This lovely weather has given us a last blast of summer, and what a better way to celebrate then heading out to the beach to see the lone iron men.

One of an army of one hundred, life-size iron statues that look out to sea from Crosby Beach approx. Six miles north of central Liverpool, the figures spread over 2 miles of Merseyside’s lovely coastline.

The statues emerge from the sea as the tide goes in and out and the oxidization of the iron has created fantastic texture, colors, formations and incrustations as detailed in this small but very detailed painting.

What makes YOU smile? For me it is the sight of a million daffodils in the sun, especially on a spring day.

But the message behind this vibrant field is so much more than that! The amazing 'Field of Hope' was planted by the Marie Curie centre in 1990 after they received a donation of daffodils to be used for fundraising, they planted the field in order to inspire cancer sufferers and carers, a fitting tribute to all who have to deal with this horrible disease.

This is close to the heart of my family, a beautiful place!

As part of my Sefton Park Collection, I think this piece of art holds a strong place in my heart.
